In recent order Gujarat High Court has observed that :

* Article 51-A(g) of the Constitution of India, casts a fundamental duty on every citizen to have compassion for living creature. Article 51-A(g) not only imposes a duty on every citizen to protect all animals on which unnecessary pain is being inflicted.

Birds and animals have fundamental rights to live.

* Infliction of unnecessary pain, or suffering on animals is anti-thesis to compassion, the duty as imposed by Article 51-A(g) of the Constitution of India. Nobody has a right to inflict pain or suffering to others inclusive of the animals and birds.

* Even birds can not be kept in cages by which they suffer a pain. To keep birds in cages would tantamount to illegal confinement of the birds which is in violation of right of the birds to live in free air / sky.

The White Pelican, Pelecanus onocrotalus also known as the Eastern White Pelican or Great White Pelican is a bird in the pelican family. It breeds from southeastern Europe through Asia and in Africa in swamps and shallow lakes.

This is a large pelican, at a mass of 10 kg (22 lbs), 160 cm (63 in) long and with a 280 cm (110 inch) wingspan. It differs from the Dalmatian Pelican, the only larger species of pelican, by its pure white, rather than greyish-white, plumage, a bare pink facial patch around the eye and pinkish legs. Males are larger than females, and have a long beak that grows in a downwards arc, as opposed to the shorter, straighter beak of the female. Immature birds are grey and have dark flight feathers.

Now, with such tele lens capacity I am able to spot and shoot subject which I was unable previously. I was pleasantly surprised to find this Kingfisher in the backyard, as there is no pond/water source nearby.

Update : After going through The Book of Indian Birds by Salim Ali, I could confirm the guest as Whitebreasted Kingfisher. The more technical details from the book, are as follow :

WHITEBREASTED KINGFISHER Halcyon smyrensis R Myna+: 28 cm. A conspicuous white shirt front and white wing patch in flight diagnostic. Canals, streams, reservoirs, cultivation, gardens and edges of forest often away from water. Subcontinent, Andamans , Nicobars; Sri Lanka.
