Movie : Kabhi Kabhi (1975)
Producer : Yash Chopra Films
Title : Kabhi Kabhi mere dil mein
Singers : Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar
Music : Khayyaam
Lyrics : Sahir Ludhiyanvi
Sensuously sensuous. Innocently asserts the sense of possessiveness.
***
Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal aata hai,
ke jaise tujko banaya gaya hai mere liye.
Tu ab se pehle sitaron mein bas rahi thi kahin,
tuje jamin pe bulya gaya he mere liye.
Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal aata hai,
ke ye badan ye nighanon meri amanat hai,
yeh geshuon ki ghani chhaon hai meri khatir,
ye hothon aur yeh bahen meri amanat hai.
Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal aata hai,
ke jaise bajti hai shenhaiyan si rahon mein,
Suhag raat hai ghoonghat utha raha hoon mein,
Simat rahi he tu sharma ke meri bahon mein.
Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal aata hai,
jaise tu muje chehagi umrabhar younhi.
Utthegi meri taraf pyaar ki nazar younhi,
main janta hun ke tu gair magar younhi.
Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal aata hai.

“main janta hun ke tu gair magar younhi.”— This line makes me feel very sad.
JV said:
Yes, I wanted to describe the feeling the sher contained, but I could’nt express in words. It is difficult to accept that you know whom you love is stranger, cannot be yours, in spite fo the same still you love unconditionally that is true thing.
Nidhi said:
Ya, love is unconditional. How hard we try to think that the person is no more in our life but still the existence of the person persists. I dont know why it happen, Love is beautiful but why painful. Love is bonding but why separation.
Its so strange, like you, me and many others who love and care so much to our love mates but most of them are sad. One can really feel the intensity and depth of the love on their posts.

Thanks Belkhodja for your interest. I will try to give you the translation of “Kabhi Kabhi”, but I am afraid the feelings may be lost in translation, but I will try.
I will get lyrics of the other songs you recommended as soon as possible. Can you clear the 2/nd song.
Can you give some more details about yourself, only if you are comofrtable with giving it. Because if you are a French, by any chance, I can have your help in learning French.
Good night.

HI JV, Namaste, bahut bahut choukria for your help, i really appreciate it. Dont be afraid and
try it for me.
I mean about the 2nd Mere dost tujhe mera mit moubarak. Md Rafi song.
About myself. My little name is Sami. I was born in France at Lyon the second city of France.
My father is an algerian, my mom is french. I currently speak and write in french language. No problem if you want to learn french. C’est facile (it’s easy).
I am filmi very hindi filmi. Despite the fact that indian film industry has lost its magic power (on me)cause it lost the hindustani soul except some movies like Devdas and others. Now, you know my favourite singers. My favorite actresses are Madhubala, Hema Malini, Nargis, Mumtaz, Sharmila Tagore, Reekha and last but not least Madhuri Dixit (The smile).
The actors : Dilip Kumar, Sashi Kaapor (the biggest)Raj Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar, Shah Ruh Khan, Amir Khan, Dev anand and Mister Bacchan (destroyed my dream by his come back).
I speak a little hindi. Bola hindi nehi malloum hai.
I spend with the indian culture a big part of my time. I share the part of hindi people dream. I hope so that i will have your help to learn more hindi. Milega zarour.
JV said:
Thanks Sami for sharing your details and interest in Hindi movies. I agree with you entirely (je suis entièrement de votre avis) about the lost magic of Hindi movies. Lately movie makers are adopting (and miserably failing) western culture and losing originality and versatility of Indian culture.
You seem bigger fan of Hindi movies than me :). I dont like watch movies much, rather I like to listen to songs of movies.
I will try my hand on the translaton on “Kabhi Kabhi” soon.
I will help you every way to learn Hindi.
Check my french, because I write down the expressions from the Collins Dictionary. 🙂
Have a good day.
BELKHODJA said:
Salut JV, j’ai bien apprécié ta réponse (i appreciate your answer).Vraiment (really).Your french expression is correct. Also, You can say in the same way (je suis entièrement d’accord
avec vous). Merci pour votre proposition de m’aider à apprendre le Hindi (thanks for proposing your help for me to learn Hindi). I’m waiting you for the translation (intizar).
May i have the confirmation for the means of two words in hindi:
“Khushboo” is it fragrance (parfum in french or sometime fragrance like the english)?
“majboor” is it to be oblige by destiny ( etre obligé par le destin).
In fine (italian word), do you know why i am a big fan of hindi movies because there are magic songs who attract me. Sometime, i want to cry when i am listening. Some songs are alive by themselves (des entités indépendantes et vivantes par elles memes).C’st ca la magie des chansons hindoues.
Mulakat ki intizar hogayi (at last, may be i have wrote something false); à plus tard ( see you later).
JV said:
The translation is giving me hard time. As I do not want merely translate words, but want to convey the feeling, if possible. I am halfway to the translation.
About the confirmations, you are correct about ‘khusboo’.
But for ‘majboor’, ‘compel’ is more appropriate. Because ‘oblige’ can have different meanings at a time. So when you are ‘majboor’, it means you have to do something against your wish /by force of someone (may be human, destiny or circumstances) and you have no alternative at all.
In french which is nearst to ‘compel’? ‘contraindre’or ‘obliger’, I think it is former.
BELKHODJA said:
In french, the nearest to ‘compel’is ‘contraindre’ because ‘la connotation’ is that you have no
alternative and no choice; an external element is pushing you by force to do something against
your irada (volonté).
By the way, apka name kia hai? Comment vous appelez vous ? Quel votre nom ?
The mean of madhoosh is astonished, isn’t it? ‘Etonné’ in french. Je suis étonné. I am astonished.
Bonne continuation. Bonsoir.
Sami.
JV said:
( you can call me JV, for short)
As I like to point it out, ‘madhosh’ is an urdu word, and urdu language is very poetic and romentic one. The language has different words for one thing, depending upon the circumstances.
Here ‘madhosh’ can be translated as ‘astonished’, but it does not convey the real feeling behind it. ‘madhosh’ can be brought closer by using ‘intoxicated’. ‘Astonish’ can mean sudden wonder or amazement. So, you see a really beautiful woman and you become ‘madhosh’ , apparently, you are not ‘astonished’, wondered, or amazed.
‘madhosh’ generally used to describe the state of a person ,or beauty of woman. “madhosh aankhen” “intoxicated eyes” etc., 🙂
“Main use dekhkar madhosh ho gaya” “I become intoxicated when I saw her”
J’apprécie ceci, merci pour lui.
BELKHODJA said:
As you want, i respect your wish and i shall call you JV pour faire court (make it short). JV in french is ‘un diminutif ou des initiales’.
Merci pour ‘madhosh’. Is it dekhkar from the verb dekho (to see)?
JV said:
Thanks, I simply like anonymity(anonymat). May be some day… 🙂
Oui, ‘dekho’ est verbe. Est ‘to see’ signifie voyez?
Merci Sami.
BELKHODJA said:
Salut JV, ok for some day ‘un jour’ ‘ek din’. Today we start our first french lesson :
Dekho est un verbe. In french language we have male and female gender ‘genre’. There is no
equivalent for ‘it’.For exemple : un garçon ‘ek larka’, une fille ‘ek larki’, un homme ‘ek admi’, une femme ‘ek aurat’. For male gender you have to use ‘un’ and for female ‘une’.Even for the object ‘objet’ and so one. I think in hindi you have not this notion of female and male as i have understood.
2/’Est’ is the present of ‘le verbe ‘etre’ “to be”.
3/’Voyez’ is the present for ‘le verbe’ ‘voir’ “to see”.
4/ It’s better to add ‘Je ne peux pas y croire’ ‘I can believe it’ and ‘y’ has the same function of ‘it’. Tu peux y croire. The pronunciation of ‘y’ is like ‘i’ in hindi. YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IT. Just do it. ‘Il faut le faire’. Au revoir
The rest is very correct.
JV said:
Thanks for the begining of my french lessons. I am enjoying.
A question here.Do I have to use ‘un’ and ‘une’ for every thing I refer. When I say ‘une fille’ , here ‘une’ is necessary?, merely ‘fille’ – ‘ladki’ will not do? .
In hindi we use gender in verb. Like ‘bolna’ is ‘to speak’ so ‘ladka bola’ and ‘ladki boli’
I have had great day today, and I am almost feeling sleepy.
Good night.
BELKHODJA said:
Merci pour la leçon en hindi. Je suis content aussi (i’am happy too). You have to use ‘un’ or ‘une’ when you speak about or describe anything. For example : tu es une fille (you are a girl), tu es un garçon (you are a boy), c’est une vache (it’s a cow), c’est un jardin (it’s a garden).Always ‘UN’ & ‘UNE’ employment are for single person, object, thing etc.Yes, you have to use ‘un’ & ‘une’ for every single you refer. Merely no, ‘fille’ is majhool. LADKI BASS.
I have remarked ‘d’ in ladki instead ‘r’, why? Cause when you hear hindi people speaking, the first impression (same word in french) you have is ‘r’. I’m wrong. Do i?
Correct please, this following disaster :
main shair to nahin
magar ye hassin
jab se dekha
mene tujkho mujkho
shairi agayi
THANKS MANY THANKS, I’m speaking and writing hindi what a crazy time. IT’S AMAZING.
JV said:
Je maintenant comprends ‘une’ et ‘un’. ‘larki’ and ‘ladki’ both are correct. Infact, hindi is written in devnagri script, there are many words in hindi wihch gives difficulty when you write them in english there is little difficulty. (check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindi). Sorry, for confusing you 🙂
So you will find variation like ‘larki’and ‘ladki’at many place , dependeing upon the dialect used by the writer, but it is oaky till its convey the message.
Main shayar to nahi,
magar aey haseen
jab se dekha maine tujko,
mujko shayri aa gayi.
I hope you have gone through the ‘tasveer teri’ lyrics I have posted.
BELKHODJA said:
Danayavad for the lyrics, really i am happy. My first and complete song in hindi. I can’t believe it. Now, i will make it noisy in my house cause i will repeat till i reach the summit (it’s a jok). Second french lesson
I ‘Je’
You ‘tu’
He ‘Il’, She ‘Elle’ It (In french language there is no similar pronoun)
We ‘Nous’
You ‘Vous’ ‘Ap’
They for ‘Ils’ and ‘Elles’.

how difficult it is to find the one you actually love in your life.. and how painful would it be when you hear your lover saying ” i’d loose you to somebody better than me.. ” its not abt somebody better.. its abt “you” whatever you are.. its “you” and that ends there.. i’d walk away if you u want me to.. but u cant tell me not to love you.. charago se roshni nahi chheen sakte tum.. hawaon ka rukh mod na padega.. agar dum hai meri aahon mein to laut kar tumhe aa na padega.. – the purest form of love as it exists in the eyes of kids.. i’d love u for the rest of my life the same way as u do.. and i would say “magar ye ho na saka.. aur ab ye aalam hai.. “
