Large Egret

Large Egret :

(Plate 2- 5(14) The Book of Indian Birds, Salim Ali, 12th revised edition, BNHS)
A lanky snow white egret. Legs bare, black, bill black-and-yellow. Breeding birds develop a cluster of filmsy ornamental dorsal plumes (”aigretes”) falling over beyond the tail. Habits : Affects jheels, marshes, river etc. usually solitary
