Movie : Mughal-e-azam (1960)
Track : Aye ishq ye sab duniyawale
Singer : Lata Mangershkar
Lyrics : Shakeel Badayuni
Music : Naushad
Everything has been said for the movie, Mughal-e-Azam and I am not in position to add anything. Yet I have not seen the movie. The movie has everything in grand measure the story, the cast, the music, the lyrics.
You cant blame Saleem for renouncing the great empire if Anarkali was anything like Madhubala. Mesmerizing beauty of Madhubala will never fade. Pathetically I was not able to get any spellbound poster of the actress or the movie.
I had not listened this particular song before, but came across when listening to the entire album. I visualize the song as when Saleem is fallen newly in love with Anarkali and she sings at the Kotha (could be Suryia, the sister of Anarkali)

Aye ishq ye sab duniyawale bekar ki baatine karte hai,
payal ke ghamon ka ilm nahi chhankar ki baatine karte hai.
Har dil me chhupa hai teer koi har paon mein zanjeer koi,
puchhe koi unke gam ke maze jo pyar ki baatine karte hai.
Ulfat ke naye deewanon ko kis tarha se koi samjaye,
nazron pe lagi hai pabandi deedar ki baatine karte hai.
Bhanwarne hai agar madhosh to kya parwane bhi hai khamosh to kya,
sab pyar ke nagme gate hai sab yaar ki baatine karte hai.

Dear JV, The movie is worth watching. Its one of my favorite besides Sholey and Mother India.
have u listened the Kawali in Mughal-e-azam. Its too good. It says that ppl who fall in love has to suffer a lot.
Mohabbat karne walon ka bus hai ek hi afsana, tarpana chup chup ke, ghut ke mar jana, kissi din yeh nazara muskura ke hum bhi dekhnge.
Then Madhubala side: something something, par yeh kya kam hai marne ke bad bhi duniya yaad karti hai.
I liked it very much.
Hi Nidhi, glad to have your comment after quite some time. I was already missing you much. I thought you might be angry or something with me as I was not able to visit your blog recently as I was having my own problembs at hand.
Fine, now, I do not recall listening to the kwaali which your are fond of. And as you surely have noticed the announcement I have put about typing down the lyrics of the favourites songs of the commentor. I will try to get my hand that kwaali and type down the lyric.
Nahi yaar. I was not angry, its only I dont have much knowledge about ghazals. I almost visit your blog whenever I do blogging but couldnt post comment. But good to know that someone is missing me lol,
Yes pls try, if you get lyrics of that kawali.
Take care
Nidhi
What a relief.
I am neither have much knowledge of ghazals, but I like the way the emotions expressed, I also like old movies songs which are unlike recent songs , have many things to say. I hope I will be able to interest you in ghazal, soon.
I am trying to get the song. But I believe it has different opening line then you have mentioned in your comment. Is it something like “teri mehfil me kismet ajamakar hum bhi dekhenge”?
Hi JV, Its nice to read sometimes but listening is untolerable for me. I fall in sleep so never get a chance to feel the intensity. I like to read it whenever you post it.
Yes, its start with “teri mehfil main kismat aazma kar hum bhi dekhenge” I have written one of the paragraph. I love Kawalis. I think I have heard most of them.
I hope you are all well.
Cheers
Nidhi
Thanks.

OMG I just love this song. Some of the most heart-achingly lovely lyrics I ever heard in my life. I truly feel sorry for people who don’t understand Hindi/Urdu.
pls someone please please tell me the meaning of the lyrics..i beg u..i saw the video too but what does this song tell about love…pls pls someone help me.post a reply
it’s hard to do justice to the lyrics in a different language, but roughly translated it means “O Love, the people of the world talk such nonsense. They know not the sadness of the anklets (paayal) – they just talk about the sound (jhankaar)” There’s more, but it’s hard to appreciate without a proper understanding of Urdu/Hindi.
